June, 2012 - Work has begun to remove organic materials that will improve water quality in the Julia Davis Park pond. Poor water quality has resulted in circulation problems and algae blooms at the popular paddleboat destination. AWS Dredge out of Logan, Utah, is the contractor for the $200,000 project.
The process includes pulling the organic material out of the pond using a 30' floating dredge. The material is then pumped to geobags on the shore that allows the water to flow out while containing the material. The water then flows back to the pond. An estimated 1500 cubic yards of material will be removed. When the material has dried enough for transport it will be hauled to Esther Simplot Park where it will be used to enrich soil in the development of the park
